3 Stunning Places in Kerala that are Movie Locations

Kerala has been one of the hot favorites of film-makers. Over the years, a number of Indian films have been shot at its exotic locales. With its naturally gifted locations, this state has always been a director’s favorite muse! Some of the shooting locations have made the theatre audience sit up and take notice of the hypnotic beauty of Kerala – God’s Own Country. It goes without saying that these movie scenes have also stemmed up the popularity of these places amongst the tourists. So, a number of tour planners are now including these locations in their itinerary of Kerala tour packages.

Here are 3 of these popular movie locations:

Alleppey backwaters: It is in the lush backwaters at Alleppey that the famous song ‘Jiya jale jaan jale’ (from the movie ‘Dil Se’) was filmed. Actors Shahrukh Khan and Preity Zinta had captured the true romance of Kerala beautifully by expressing their love for each other on a houseboat sequence.

Munnar: Munnar is suave and romantic. Its seductive beauty was nicely captured in the Bollywood caper ‘Nishabd’ that starred Sir Amitabh Bachchan and newbie Jiah Khan. With its lovely tea gardens, round hillocks, cool climate and serene milieu, it is easily amongst the best places to visit in Kerala.

Athirappily: The only good thing about the film ‘Raavan’ was the exuberant camera work done by the team in the mesmeric location of Athirappily. The refulgent waterfalls and the postcard-perfect hills were so beautiful that even the stunning Aishwarya Rai must have got a complex.

You can visit all these 3 locations anytime during the year, though the best time to visit Kerala would be between October and March.
